Skin Microbiome: An Actor in the Pathogenesis of Psoriasis

چکیده
IntroductIon Psoriasis is characterized by raised, scaly, well‐demarcated, erythematous oval plaques.[1] Although studies have revealed that disruption of immune tolerance and excessive production of inflammatory factors play important roles in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, the exact mechanism is still not clear.[2] Previous studies have shown that the concordance rate of monozygotic twins with psoriasis is greater than that of dizygotic twins,[3,4] with genetic factors underpinning 66–90% of the variation in risk of developing psoriasis.[5] These studies reveal not only the genetic influence on psoriasis but also that nongenetic factors are important in the pathogenesis of psoriasis.

Background: T cell activation is discussed as an important factor in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Recently, a lot of attention has been paid to the role of superantigens in T cell activation in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. In this study, the role of staphylococcal superantigens in the pathogenesis of psoriasis with identification of staphylococcal toxin levels in the skin lesions of p...

متن کاملPsoriasis and infestation with Malassezia
Abstract Background: Psoriasis is a chronic proliferative condition of the skin. Its accurate pathogenesis has not been known yet, but interactions between genes and environmental factors have been implicated in its initiation. The role of malassezia in psoriasis is still undetermined, but several reports have associated these lipophilic yeasts with the development of skin lesions in psoriasis...
متن کاملEvaluation of the antioxidant defense status in psoriasis
Background: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease of theskin. The etiology of psoriasis is not known exactly. Recently, ithas been suggested that an imbalance in the oxidant- antioxidantstatus due to an increased reactive oxygen species production and/or deficient function of the antioxidant system may be involvedin the pathogenesis of psoriasis. The aim of this study was toevaluate the a...

Background: Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated skin diseasewith a genetic predisposition. Prolactin may contribute to psoriasispathogenesis. However, there has been a debate over the serumlevel of prolactin in psoriatic patients. The aim of this study was todescribe the role of serum prolactin in the pathogenesis of psoriasisMethod: The serum prolactin level was measured in 45 patientswith ...
